Do I have to be a student to stay at University accommodation over the summer?

You do not have to be a student to stay in Summer Stays accommodation; rooms are available to anyone.

What dates are University residences open for Summer Accommodation bookings?

Over the summer period, some University of Auckland residences are available for room bookings through the Accommodation service Auckland Summer Stays.

The dates vary each year and is different in self-catered accommodation to in the fully catered accommodation.
The Summer Stays dates for Summer 2018-19 are as follows:
Self-catered accommodation: 7 December 2018 – 1 February 2019
Catered accommodation: 20 November 2018 – 17 February 2019

What dining facilities are available when booking Summer accommodation through Auckland Summer Stays?

Of the residences available for room bookings over the summer period, only our Halls of Residences (O’Rorke Hall and University Hall – Towers) offer catering.

Halls of Residences are only available over the summer period to groups of 10+ people. Breakfast is included in the Halls of Residence room rate with an option to add lunch and dinner available.

All other Summer Stays residences are self-catered. Summer Stays studio rooms and shared apartments have fully furnished kitchens in-room, as well as a communal kitchen onsite if you do not wish to cook in your room.

What are the check in/check out times for Auckland Summer Stays accommodation?

Check in is any time after 2.00pm
Check, out is any time before 10.00am
Over the summer period, the front desk at all residences is manned from 8.00am until 8.00pm.

If you arrive outside of those times it is possible to Auckland Summer Stays to arrange for someone to meet you, provided that you inform Summer Stays or Residence staff of your arrival time.

How long can I stay in University Accommodation over summer/is there a minimum stay?

During the summer period some University residences are available for groups and individual travellers to rent through to Accommodation service Auckland Summer Stays.

The exact dates of this period change each year but are generally between November and February. You can check the dates for the upcoming summer season on the Summer Accommodation webpage.

The minimum stay for group bookings and studio apartment bookings through Auckland Summer Stays is two nights’ stay, with a three nights’ minimum stay for three bedroom apartments.
